If you’re tall, you already know the routine. You check the seat map before you book. You look up at the doorframe before you walk through it. You buy the shirt, then find out where the sleeves end. None of it is a crisis. It’s a hundred small adjustments, every day, that most people never have to make.
Most of that comes down to one thing: the world is built to an average. Doors, beds, desks, car seats, airline rows, shower heads. Each one is designed around a typical body, and the further you are from typical, the more of the day you spend working around it.
What this site is
MadeTall is a reference for what actually fits. It starts with resources: guides to cars, airline seats, hotel beds, desks, clothes and the rooms you live in, plus tools like the car finder. Those are kept up to date, and every number in them links to where it came from.
This journal is the other half: shorter pieces, finds, news that matters to tall people, and thoughts on what it’s like to live a head above the room.
The rules
- Every number has a source. If we print a measurement, we link it.
- Nothing is sponsored. Nobody pays to be in a guide, and if something doesn’t fit, we say so. How we make money is on the disclosure page.
- No cutoffs. If you spend your life ducking, this is for you. The name does the rest.
Where it’s going
Guides first, then tools, then goods. Where we keep finding that nothing on the market fits, we’ll make it. People on the list will hear about it first.
Until then, if there’s something you can never find in your size, or a question you want answered, write to hello@madetall.com. It might be the next guide.
